The recount of 338 ballot boxes in the Tirana District, initiated following the request of two members of the Complaints and Sanctions Commission (KAS), has highlighted irregularities in the counting process of the parliamentary elections of May 11, 2025. The results so far show that the two main parties, the Socialist Party (SP) and the Democratic Party (PD), have been favored by the tellers, while several smaller parties have been penalized.
According to the recount data, the Democratic Party received 162 votes unfairly, while the Socialist Party received 117 more votes than they were entitled to. These figures indicate that the errors are mainly the result of human factors, such as discrepancies in the minutes and ballots, or ballots without proper stamps.
To a lesser extent, several other parties also received undeserved votes during the first count: Arlind Qori's Lëvizja Bashke received 15 additional votes.
The Nisma Shqipëria Bëhet coalition received 20 more votes.
The Social Democratic Party (PSD) received 18 undeserved votes.
Agron Shehaj's Mundësia Party received 3 additional votes.
On the other hand, several political entities were penalized by the counters:
Lulzim Basha's Euro-Atlantic Coalition lost 16 votes that were due to them.
Dashamir Shehi's Right for Development Coalition resulted with 6 fewer votes.
