Journalist Klodiana Lala considered the dismissal of Ilir Proda as Director General of the State Police as a decision made earlier by Prime Minister Edi Rama, but she needed a pretext, which in this specific case were the Molotov cocktails thrown by opposition supporters at the former villa of dictator Enver Hoxha.
On the show 'This Week' on News24, Lala said that Proda had turned the State Police into his property, but needed a pretext to remove him, which Edi Rama found, following the reactions of some of the Embassies after the Molotov cocktails that were thrown at the dictator's former villa.
" A pretext was found for Proda's removal, the throwing of several Molotov cocktails at the former villa of dictator Hoxha. The opposition marched towards the country's institutions. The first stop was at the General Directorate of Police, where Berisha also accused Proda of having connections with the criminal world. Rama used the Molotov cocktail attack at the former villa of dictator Hoxha as a pretext.
But seen in light of the facts, there was great dissatisfaction, as Proda had signed a series of transfers and demotions of Police officials.
So Mr. Rama simply had a pretext for what happened.
It must be said that Mr. Rama would dismiss Proda and there was no doubt about it. But it must also be said that Proda had turned the State Police into his property and was distributing all those he considered a conflict. There was a debate before he was relieved of his duties and he had submitted his resignation. It was a departure without glory , "she said.
