Journalist Neritan Sejamini has issued strong criticism of the government and its lack of public accountability standards. He stated that officials who are under investigation or involved in crime and corruption scandals should resign immediately, without waiting for the opposition to take to the streets.
" You have heads of state agencies who are on trial and continue to remain in office as if nothing has happened. This is an unacceptable standard, not only politically, but also morally ," Sejamini said on "A2 CNN."
He brought up the example of the director of the Information Society Agency. The journalist noted that many of the highest officials, including directors of Roads, KESH, OSSHE and the Municipality of Shkodra, are under investigation or facing justice, but none have resigned, calling this a model of bad governance and public irresponsibility.
He also criticized the silence of part of the academic and media elite, comparing it to the case when a few months ago they petitioned against Albanian language scholars, while in cases of real and institutional corruption, they remain completely silent.
"If we want to be like Europe, then the people under investigation must resign tomorrow. For this, there is no need for the opposition to take to the streets. This is a European standard," Sejamini concluded.
