In February, road accidents increased by 22.7% compared to the same month of 2023. According to INSTAT, during the second month of the year, 108 road incidents were recorded. The road safety expert, Fatmir Hasho, raised the issue of speeding, while saying that violent behavior on the road becomes a source of accidents.
"Violent behavior brings us only accidents and consequences in the loss of life. I am in the position of overtaking a vehicle at 90 km per hour that is in the right lane and another vehicle is coming at speed behind me. Hasho calls on the Ministry of the Interior and the Road Police Directorate for tougher measures, saying that driving licenses should be removed, as "kamikazes on the road are killing us every day".
"Remove the driver's licenses, we have kamikazes on the roads who are killing us every day. The removal of the driving license makes you checho, because you will not be on the road and you will become a person to understand why I am not on the road. Those who are considering taking it, can no longer take it ," Hasho said.
Hasho points out that another problem is the use of mobile phones while driving. As for accidents caused by young people, he says that they have excessive self-confidence and are more exposed to excessive use of alcohol.
"This has to do with overconfidence that we have in the vehicle. We forget that there is a speed. Excessive self-confidence is the main cause, this type of age has the share of using alcohol beyond the norm", concluded Hasho.
