Lawyer Arben Llangozi has reacted to the serious scandal, where a large amount of chicken meat contaminated with salmonella was imported and distributed on the market in Albania.
In a post on social media, Llangozi writes that Prime Minister Edi Rama has advertised the company "Dimal Inc.", owned by businessman Mondi Goxha, as an example of success in the food sector.
Llangozi writes that chicken fillets with salmonella can cause serious health problems in consumers, including high fever, abdominal pain, diarrhea and other complications that can be fatal to humans.
According to the lawyer, the National Food Authority (AKU) took samples of the contaminated meat for analysis, but the results confirming the presence of salmonella were published a few days later, during which time the products had already been consumed by citizens.
"Scandal: Edi Rama advertises chicken with salmonella, photo promoting it as a great achievement."
A serious scandal has shaken the Albanian market, where the company "Dimal Inc.", owned by businessman Mondi Goxha, has imported and distributed on the market a significant amount of chicken meat infected with the dangerous bacterium Salmonella Typhimurium.
This bacteria can cause serious health problems in consumers, including high fever, abdominal pain, diarrhea and other complications that can be fatal for vulnerable groups such as children, the elderly and people with weakened immunity. According to recent reports, contaminated meat entered Albania on March 11, 2025 and was distributed on the market before laboratory tests were completed.
The National Food Authority (AKU) took the samples for analysis, but the results confirming the presence of salmonella were released several days later, by which time the products had already been consumed by citizens. This delay has raised serious doubts about the efficiency and accountability of the country's food safety authorities.
"What makes this situation even more worrying is the fact that the company "Dimal Inc." has previously been the subject of public promotions by Prime Minister Edi Rama himself, who has advertised this business as an example of success in the food sector. The scandal becomes even bigger as it now turns out that the meat advertised as quality by the Prime Minister contains bacteria dangerous to the health of citizens," writes Llangozi.
The lawyer further raises the concerns of people who may have purchased and consumed the salmonella-tainted meat. He says that the suspicions raised indicate that the fact that the company was advertised by the prime minister himself may have contributed to the delay in investigations to prevent the scandal.
Llangozi further adds that the businessman who imported the infected meat should be arrested immediately, along with all those who allowed this scandal to happen.
He said that any delay in taking measures on this issue is a major risk to public health, adding that there can be no compromises when it comes to food safety and the lives of citizens.
"Consumers who may have purchased and consumed the affected meat are already in a panic, demanding answers and immediate measures from the responsible institutions. The suspicions raised indicate that the Prime Minister's influence may have contributed to the delay in the investigations and the lack of immediate measures to prevent the scandal."
This interference may have contributed to the inaction of institutions, thus endangering the health of citizens for the sake of narrow economic or political interests. This case highlights the urgent need for transparency and accountability from all parties involved. The health of citizens cannot be put at risk due to negligence or political influences in decision-making.
This case once again shows the necessity of deep reforms in the food safety system and the rigorous implementation of consumer protection rules. In a country with a functioning justice system, the businessman who imported the infected meat should be arrested immediately, along with all those who allowed this scandal to happen.
"Any delay in taking action on this issue is a major risk to public health and a clear indication of the lack of responsibility in the state hierarchy. There can be no compromises when it comes to food safety and the lives of citizens," lawyer Llangozi's post further states.
