The Drilon National Park is being destroyed and it seems that the opposition and environmental organizations are indifferent to the masquerading that has been going on since last year. In the voluminous documentation over 400 pages that Pogradeci Press has, the Deed-Agreement which was concluded between the AADF and the Municipality of Pogradeci has not yet been made public.
Although Minister Mirela Kumbaro a year ago publicly declared from Korça that Driloni, after the completion of the works, will be managed by the state, it is still not known exactly how the determination was made in this agreement. Unofficial sources inform that after the completion of the works, the beneficiaries of the income that will come from parking, indoor activities, rents, museum entrances and boat trips, for the next 30 years will be the AADF and not the Municipality of Pogradec, as it has been declared in public.
This agreement, signed by Mayor Ilir Xhakolli, is kept discreet and has never been made public. In addition to the fact that the works that are being carried out have changed the identity of the Drilon National Park and destroyed the environment and landscape in this area. Referred to the following legislation:
Lake Pogradec and the area around it has been declared a Protected Landscape (protection category V according to the IUCN) with VKM No. 80, date 6, 18.02.1999 for the announcement of "National Park" of Prespa and "Protected Toxic/Aquatic Landscape" of Pogradec.
Also, with VKM No. 676, dated 20.12.2002 "On the declaration of Albanian natural monuments as a Protected Area", Driloni Springs have also been declared as Natural Monuments (category III of protection), in the list of natural monuments of Korça District.
In the following, the Drilon-Tushemisht area has been approved, as an area of national importance in planning with priority for the development of tourism, as part of the general national plan "Albania 2030", approved by decision No. 1, of the KKT, dated 14.06 .2016 and VKM No. 881, dated 14.12.2016.
But what is more impressive is the fact that despite the constant recommendations of UNESCO and despite the recommendations of regional institutions in the Korçë District, stupidity for profit is still not being stopped. Today, concrete and iron have replaced greenery and wood.
What is also established is the fact that in this park more than 60% of the many-year-old trees have been cut down, on the grounds that they were old and endangered the lives of visitors. But if the project is looked at carefully, it will be established that the real reason for their cutting was the opening of the country for the realization of the destructive pseudo-project.
But Drilon's project seems to be based on the great interests of Edi Rama, who is the main signatory in most of the official acts, but only in the agreement with the AADF, the signatory is the Mayor of Pogradec, who will receive all the attributes and benefits. pass it to the Foundation that has been accused of irregularities in the "Butrint" Projects or the "Durres" archaeological area.
The fact that Driloni has turned into a gigantic ruin no longer bothers the residents of Pogradec, who are silent in front of the mayor who has donated this asset, a private entity for the next 30 years. / Pogradeci Press
