Former prosecutor Ervin Karanxha revealed that the Soros Foundation was paid $9 million to implement justice reform in Albania.
According to Karanxha, the reform would be based on five points, which he says have failed to be implemented.
"The Soros Foundation has taken taxpayer money and has taken $9 million from American taxpayers and various seminars have been held. And what was the purpose of the justice reform? ", revealed Karanxha.
He even said that Judge Astrit Kalaja, who was murdered after ruling on a property case within the Court of Appeals, was a victim of the reform and the icing on the cake in its failure.
" The idea is this. There are five points that are targeted in the reform. The first is corruption, the second is the lack of independence of judges and prosecutors, the third is the excessive length of time for delivering justice, the fourth is low ethical and professional standards of judges and prosecutors, and five are insufficient access to the justice system. So, these have been five points, it is not just one of corruption. Corruption is one of these five. Now I conclude that none of these have been implemented, or more precisely if we refer to SPAK, SPAK has 2% of corruption cases. And we come to the point that is the main one because we have to keep in mind that the goal of the justice reform is to provide justice to citizens in a timely manner.
A citizen who has access has the court nearby. So he has the court nearby and realizes his right. This has not been realized in the case of judge Astrit Kalaja, if you consider an honorable judge, who has been a victim of actions over the years, not these various property laws that prolong property trials, but an action victim of the reform and how judge Kalaja was. Why? In extending the trial period. So today Albanian citizens no longer have justice, so they do not realize their subjective right because you want to realize your right. When the judicial system does not function, this is alarming. And this is the main goal that is not, which is why I say it is a spectacular failure for me. It is not because you want to destroy a system in a democracy, because democracy has three powers, legislative, executive and judicial. All three should function, another form should have been found, but not to throw the system into the ground, to put the machine on hold ", declared Karanxha on A2.
