Under the moderation of Edjona Dervish, various topics will be discussed, especially regarding political developments in the country.
Today's guest is the editor of " Pamphlet ", Gjergj Zefi, who is talking about political developments and not only. He commented on the political situation, focusing first on Berisha's case.
- Not only the year we left behind, but also the first part of this year, the situation with the former prime minister Berisha was in the headlines. He is under house arrest. A much discussed issue, but the public is divided into two parts. There are those who are skeptical of SPAK as to how it acted in this particular case, and there are those who see it as a great hope. What is your analysis?
Gjergj Zefi: To be honest, it never occurred to me before 20 years ago that the day would come in 2024 when we would talk about Berisha again. I call it a closed chapter. The approach to it is different. There are people who describe him as a god, there are people who consider him a "devil with horns". It doesn't matter to me. It is important that we are open to any judicial process, not only to Berisha, but to every person. I consider Berisha as a barrel that sailors throw into the sea to drive away sharks. I don't think it's time to deal with Berisha. He belongs to justice. Let's talk today, but even if you entered the judgment regarding the charges, they are little or similar to the charges against Nexhmije Hoxha for the coffees in 1994. I don't think that Berisha...
- To account for this file?
Gjergj Zefi: No, he can account for all the files in which he acted wrongly, but that is not the point. Berisha has done a great harm to this country. It has destroyed the dream of Albanians. He came to power with a big dream and we failed to build democracy. And today we have a democracy, a democracy thrown upside down and we are using Berisha to divert attention from the main event which is the condemnation of the political class that is in power. What has passed will go where it belongs and we must not forget that the damage is being done today.
- It is a bit paradoxical, because how many scandals have been denounced in a decade for Rama's government, every time there are elections, he is confirmed even more strongly?
Gjergj Zefi: The key is the lack of an alternative to the camp that is in power. The key is in the great demagoguery in which Edi Rama has built power.
-So it seems that the Albanians follow the logic of choosing the lesser evil?
Gjergj Zefi: As long as we go with the idea of choosing the lesser evil, we always end up worse. Sometimes the greater evil is better than the lesser evil. As the saying goes, we were good when we were bad. If you don't go to the end of this evil, you don't have a new chance to get up.
-For everything that has happened, Prime Minister Edi Rama does not find any fault in himself, all the time he says that others have put the pears behind his back. Is it possible for Rama to take responsibility once and for all, or were the scandals not to the extent and circumstances for him to carry out such an act?
Gjergj Zefi: The Prime Minister is judged politically. I don't think a prime minister can say that others have eaten pears behind my back. Since this is political, you have come to the government. I judge the prime minister as an administrator who organizes the state, no, he is a political person. Legislation organizes the state.
And in case your staff turns out to be corrupt, the prime minister has a political fault, if you came to administer the country with a staff, and this staff turns out to be affected by corruption, you should leave, resign. Then criminal cases are resolved by justice.
