With black balloons and banners such as: ' We don't want photos and speeches, we want treatments that keep us alive', 'Cancer doesn't wait, why are we waiting for medicine', citizens expressed that patients, especially women and girls, do not receive proper treatment, not only due to the lack of medicine, but also due to the malfunctioning of some equipment.
Meanwhile, it is learned that the mammography equipment had suffered a defect and a deadline for its repair has not yet been given. The Brachytherapy equipment used to treat gynecological cancer has also been out of operation for months.
Meanwhile, the latest report by the Supreme State Audit Office at the beginning of this month highlighted an alarming situation in the treatment of tumor patients in Albania, where almost half of the drugs authorized for this disease had never been imported, while some of them were expired, but still appeared in the system.
Worldwide, cancer is one of the three most common causes of premature death in women under the age of 70, so the goal of performing the tests is to prevent the disease early and increase the woman's chances of a full recovery.
