Only 2 members of the Commission have appeared at the Rectors, who actually found the door closed
The scandal deepens at the University of Shkodra. Even though Tonin Gjuraj was elected by vote as the new rector of this university, the old guard is holding his officialization hostage.
Today at 18.00 the next meeting of the Institutional Election Commission (KIZ) was scheduled, where the official table of election results for Rector of the University of Shkodra would be announced.
But only 2 members of the Commission have appeared at the Rectors, who actually found the door closed. At 15:30 they were informed of a request for postponement by the chairman of the commission. The same thing happened yesterday, the meeting was not held.
The winning candidate of the elections, Tonin Gjuraj, was present while in front of the media he described such a situation as unprecedented, leaving the University of Shkodra, the only country in the country that does not have an official result of the June 21 elections.
" The task of KIZ is a routine task and today should have been the next meeting. We are informed that it has been cancelled. I don't have any kind of anger, or anger that will prevent me from the principle that I have said in those 3 "T". Transformation is one of the important principles and so is transparency. If the chairman of KIZ says that I cancel the meeting that would announce the decision, for reasons of family commitments, it means that the decision is in the hands of a subjective assessment. Every member can say I have family commitment. But this creates anomalies. I consider it a waste of duty. We are on the verge of abuse of office and it constitutes a criminal offense. To expect the city community, lecturers, students, anyone interested, the subjectivity of KIZ members, seems absurd to me. It is a violation and a criminal offense. I will wait calmly until tomorrow and we will have another announcement. I call on them to put aside machinations and fabrications because they cannot undo that victory. I have won the majority ", said Tonin Gjuraj.
He said that he will address the law-enforcement bodies to resolve this artificial impasse created while the figures are already clear and it remains only in the will of the KIZ members to announce the result and certify the winner.
It is up to the Minister of Education, Ogerta Manastirliu, to intervene immediately, to stop this ugly stage of the old dome of the swamp.
A legal process cannot be reversed. The Ministry of Education has a legal duty to help Universities when there are such blocking and anti-democratic processes. The verdict was given, and it was more democratic: Professor Tonin Gjuraj was elected as the new rector.
Further blocking by the commissioners even amounts to a criminal offense, and the relevant authority, in this case the ministry has the right to sue any person authorized for the election process, who is unknowingly blocking the process. The commissioners, accustomed over the years to be a kind of Turkish bailiffs of the city, must know that they can no longer obstruct any process; Shkodra will move forward!
