The professor of criminology, Ervin Karamuço, said that there is a tendency to create a mafia family in Albania.
In Top Story, Karamuço brought the example of the mafia in neighboring countries, but said that there are still structured criminal groups in Albania. He added that the mafia family has the power to command the state as well.
" There is a tendency that we have shared in several discussions regarding the creation of a genuine mafia family. Do the conditions exist, yes! It is these blows thanks to SKY and Encrochat which atrophy the possibility to advance and be a fight for our authority who will feel powerless.
There are tendencies, especially in central Albania and in the North, that can lead to the form of union of certain structures resembling us as unions. They come together, but they have not created a real commission from what we know from Silcilia, Ndragheta and so on.
We agree on one thing, not in the sense of elements of the mafia tradition, but we have the tendency that some of these united organizations can command the state. They call us the Albanian mafia, but currently they are criminal organizations, but they can turn into mafia families" , said Karamuço.
