The Constitutional Court rejected the request to suspend the austerity measures against former Prime Minister Sali Berisha.
The Legal Adviser and for Electoral Affairs, Ivi Kaso, has described as unconstitutional the decision of the court for the former Prime Minister Berisha.
He said that he has canceled Article 134 point c of the Constitution.
"The decision of the Constitutional Court is wrong and unconstitutional. The issue, contrary to what has been trumpeted as being Berisha's personal, was not this at all. I am worried because the Constitutional Court, considering the pressure, has canceled Article 134 point c. When can this be implemented? The right of 1/5 to bring any matter before the Constitutional Court. The Assembly should bring it, says the Constitutional Court. What happened today is very serious.
In the case of Saimir Tahir, the Assembly has exercised a competence, issued a decision. SPAK and GJKKO stand up and say they exercise it themselves, there is no need for the Assembly to exercise it. Kaso emphasized that the opposition no longer has any instrument and that with today's decision the Constitutional Court closed the door to the opposition.
"It has created a new precedent different from the last 20-30 years. The decisions of the Constitutional Court institutionalize another type of constitutional authority that has unconditional right and closes the door to the opposition. The opposition had two instruments and now it has none. The Constitutional Court closed the door to the opposition today. From now on, if this standard is established, the door will be closed to the opposition or MPs. For the Investigative Commissions, there was zero chance" , said Kaso.
