Cases related to food safety continue to attract the attention of authorities and public opinion.
Recently, the Durrës Customs Branch has blocked a significant amount of food products beyond their expiration dates during a physical check on the premises of a commercial entity authorized for the Inward Processing Regime.
According to the official announcement, during the verifications, 2,500 kilograms of rice flour with an expiration date of April 1, 2025 and 5,150 kilograms of pizza flour with an expiration date of April 7, 2025 were found. In total, this amounts to 7,650 kilograms of flour that was beyond the expiration date, according to the dates marked on the packaging.
Durrës Customs has initiated the relevant procedures in cooperation with the National Food Authority (AKU), in accordance with the legislation in force, until the destruction of the blocked goods.
The General Directorate of Customs emphasized its commitment to law enforcement and called on economic operators to respect legal obligations, in order to guarantee food safety and protect consumers.
