Online pyramid schemes, AKSK reacts: Do not invest in TXEX, it is a scam!

The National Cyber Security Authority has reacted regarding the TXEX online fraud network that allegedly robbed Albanians of around $5 million.

Regarding these "online pyramid schemes", which lure investors to invest in cryptocurrencies by promising huge profits, AKSK states that it has identified a platform calling itself TXEX.

"AKSK, in exercising its powers to guarantee security in the digital space and raise public awareness of cyber risks, informs citizens about the identification of a case of online fraud through a self-proclaimed TXEX platform. This platform, presented as an application for investing in cryptocurrency, is not registered and is not licensed in the Republic of Albania and as such operates outside any national legal framework. From our observations and from the numerous denunciations made public, it is concluded that its activity bears the clear features of a digital fraudulent scheme," the statement says.

Citizens are further urged to be vigilant to protect themselves and others, and are therefore requested not to conduct financial transactions with this platform, not to share sensitive personal data with unknown entities and to immediately report suspicious cases.

How fraud works according to the National Cyber Security Authority

The TXEX platform uses:

• Seductive and false advertisements on social networks (e.g. Instagram, TikTok);
• Creating simulated communication groups on Telegram, WhatsApp, Signal;
• Presenting fabricated profits to build credibility among victims;
• Requesting additional payments under the pretext of “verification” or “withdrawal of funds”;
• Collecting sensitive personal documents (ID, photos), increasing the risk of misuse of personal data.

AKSK warns Albanian citizens that inclusion in this platform brings:

• Irrecoverable financial losses;
• High risk of privacy and digital identity violations;
• Possibility of further misuse of personal data by criminal networks.

Citizens should keep in mind that:

1. No unlicensed entity has the right to offer financial or investment services in Albania;
2. Promises of quick and guaranteed profits are a classic indicator of online fraud;
3. No legitimate platform requires additional payments or personal data to withdraw funds.

The National Cyber Security Authority emphasizes that cybersecurity is an integral part of national security, and that protection from digital fraud requires increased vigilance, continuous awareness, and cooperation of citizens with responsible institutions.

With vigilance, reporting, and individual care, everyone contributes to creating a safe, reliable, and sustainable cyber environment for all of Albanian society.
