After a months-long investigation, in July 2016, the Narcotics Section of the State Police successfully completed Operation “Seven”, cracking down on a cocaine distribution group in Tirana. The police arrested the leader of the cocaine group, Mikel Mitri, and his son, Enea Mitri, in flagrante delicto. Several members of the group were also arrested, including Donjet Zaloshnja, Selim Rama, Aurel Kafeja, Indrit Barçi, and Llazar Buhani.
Thanks to strong connections in the system and the money thrown at the prosecutor in the case and the judge, Mikel and Enea Mitri were released from prison very quickly.
The head of the cocaine distribution group also escaped the action of the anti-mafia law for the sequestration of assets derived from criminal activity.
Mikel Mitri is suspected of continuing the activity of supplying VIPs with cocaine, while his son would engage in another criminal activity, many times more profitable than distributing cocaine.
Enea Mitri is today the biggest boss of call centers in Tirana, with the most structured network and the widest reach, under multiple police protection. Mitri conquered the criminal market of call centers after the exposure and fall of Amant Josifi. To camouflage the groups of fraud of European citizens, Enea Mitri has used several locations in Tirana and a network of companies in the name of prestanomas.
Although a millionaire from the criminal activity of fraudulent investments, Mitri has acted carefully, leaving as few traces as possible. He appears secondarily in the tax registers and disappears very quickly.
