The imams of Albania join in an appeal against the genocide in Gaza, condemning the massacres of Palestinian civilians and the silence of the international community. The joint statement, signed by 246 imams from all over Albania, emphasizes that a historical crime and an open genocide are taking place in Gaza.
"This is a crime that cannot be justified by any political, military or religious argument. The criminals must be stopped immediately, the war must end, humanitarian aid must enter freely and justice must be served," the statement said.
According to them, Gaza has become "a human bloodbath that the whole world sees in real time, but it's a joke."
They call on governments, international institutions and humanitarian organizations to assume their responsibilities to stop this tragedy.
"Every day that remains silent about this tragedy is a new wound and a grave shame on the conscience of humanity."
The hoxhallars demand that Albania's political and religious leaders also position themselves "on the right side of history, which is the side of justice, humanism, and truth."
According to official figures, over 62,000 people have been killed, while other sources put the number at up to 100,000 victims and missing, mostly women and children.
