Horrifying footage shows the final moments of a 44-year-old woman, just before she was attacked by a bear in a village in central-western Russia.
CCTV footage shows Anastasia Bulgakova, 44, walking at night on a deserted, snow-covered road in a village in Serov, in central-western Russia in early March.
Her disappearance mobilized her neighbors, who upon checking discovered a severed head. Officials are conducting DNA tests to confirm whether the head belonged to Anastasia.
According to local sources, the head had wounds with "bite marks from a large animal." Signs of bear activity have been discovered in the area, but there are also wolves.
However, authorities have not ruled out the possibility that the victim was killed and her body was then torn apart by bears.
Police say they currently "do not have any significant operational information."
However, the DNA of the severed head is also being checked with that of other missing persons.
