According to local media, the murder was committed by members of a rival gang, who shot the father and daughter with dozens of bullets. According to the same reports, the 39-year-old's killers followed his movements after Sevillano went to wash his car in the morning.
Security at the funeral was tight with dozens of police and soldiers to prevent further bloodshed.
No one has claimed responsibility for the deaths of Bustamante and his daughter, but authorities suspect the attack may be the result of clashes between rival gangs in the lucrative world of drug trafficking.
According to local media, "Los Fatales" are at war with the "Los Cornejos" cartel for control of the drug trade in the provinces of Manabi and Los Rios.
