Even bomb threats do not solve the crisis in Kosovo, the Assembly needs to be

The constitution of the Kosovo Assembly has failed for the 42nd time.

Although the Constitutional Court set a deadline of July 26 for the formation of the Assembly, the deputies failed again to elect a new Speaker of the Assembly.

The constitutive session, which took place this evening after a delay caused by a false bomb alarm, lasted only a few minutes. The chairman of the session, Avni Dehari, announced its interruption and postponement for 48 hours. The next session will be held on Monday, July 7.

This is the 42nd failure since April 15, a period during which MPs have gathered but failed to elect the Speaker of the Assembly, an essential step for the formation of new institutions after the elections.

In the last session, only 74 out of 120 deputies were present, an insufficient number to proceed with the vote.

In the last session, only 39 deputies voted in favor of forming a secret ballot committee, making it impossible to continue the election process.

After the session ended, Vetëvendosje Movement MP Hekuran Murati declared that the secret ballot does not contradict the Constitution and does not constitute a change to the agenda.
