
The Health Ministry of Hamas has stated that the number of Palestinians killed in Israeli attacks is over 13,000 and that 30,000 others have been injured in Gaza.
In its latest update on the death toll, the ministry said 13,000 people, including 5,500 children, had been killed since October 7.
It is reported that more than 700,000 people have taken shelter in facilities run by UNRWA, the UN agency for Palestinian refugees points out.
Meanwhile, the overcrowded conditions are causing "serious health and safety risks" for those people who are displaced, as well as taking a heavy toll on their mental health. Also, the UN clarifies that damage to water and sanitation infrastructure is increasing public health risks.
Hamas attacked Israel on October 7 and took over 200 Israeli hostages in the enclave.
Since then, Israel has continued its air and ground attacks on Gaza, bombing the largest refugee camp and the largest hospital in Gaza. The official death toll in Israel is around 1,200.
Thousands of buildings, including hospitals, mosques and churches, have also been damaged or destroyed.
Meanwhile, Israel holds thousands of Palestinian prisoners in administrative detention without trial.
