Britain withdraws embassy staff from Iran

The UK government has confirmed that British embassy staff in Iran have been withdrawn.

"We have taken the precautionary measure of temporarily withdrawing British staff from Iran. Our embassy continues to operate remotely," the government said on its Iran travel advice website.

Earlier, at the US Embassy in Jerusalem, non-emergency American personnel and their families were told to leave Israel due to risks to their safety.
