The President-elect of the United States of America, Donald Trump, has asked the member countries of BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) to pledge not to create a new currency or support another foreign currency such as replacement for the US dollar.

BRICS consists of the group of five economies – Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa. It also unites Iran, Egypt, Ethiopia and the United Arab Emirates.
The statement comes after the US president-elect announced plans to impose a 25 percent tariff on Mexico and Canada and an additional 10 percent tariff on China for illegal immigration and drug trafficking into the United States.
