"I have decided that the right thing is to serve until January and then leave. My goal is to stay focused on my mission and do my necessary work on behalf of the American people. In my opinion, this is also the best way to avoid drawing the FBI into controversy while reinforcing the values and principles that are so important to the way we do our work ," Chris Wray stated.
Controversies with Trump
Donald Trump said he will nominate Cash Patel for the post of FBI director. In his first televised interview since winning the US election, Donald Trump said he is not happy with Wray after his FBI agent raided his Mar-A-Lago mansion in 2022 to obtain documents classified. The documents also put Trump on trial in 2023.
Wray, a Republican, was appointed by Trump in 2017 after the then-president fired James Comey as FBI director. According to the protocol, Ray's term would end in 2027.
