Authorities urge residents to seek shelter; Abu Dhabi says it has intercepted missiles and dozens of drones from Iran
The United Arab Emirates' Interior Ministry has declared an emergency alert across the country, warning of possible missile threats and urging residents to seek immediate shelter in the nearest safe building, writes the BBC.
Authorities urged citizens and residents to stay away from windows, doors, and open areas until further notice.
According to journalist Sameer Hashmi's reporting from Riyadh, the alert was issued about an hour after the UAE's Ministry of Defense announced that it was responding to missile and drone threats from Iran.
Earlier in the day, Emirati authorities said they had intercepted six Iranian missiles and 131 drones. According to the same sources, one missile and six drones fell on the country's territory.
