New revelations in the Jeffrey Epstein case have reignited political conflict in the United States. During a hearing in the House of Representatives, California Democratic Representative Ro Khanna released the names of six people who had previously been redacted in Justice Department documents related to the financier, who died in prison in 2019.
According to Khanna, these are "rich and powerful" figures whose names were deleted without explanation. However, no charges have been filed against them so far. Republican Representative Thomas Massie, who co-authored with Khanna a bill to ensure transparency in Epstein's files, also stated that the 6 "are likely implicated by their presence in the documents," while specifying that they have not been formally charged with any crime.
Among the names read were Leslie Wexner, the former chief executive of Victoria's Secret, and Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, an Emirati businessman and chairman of port giant DP World. The documents reportedly revealed controversial communications, including an email attributed to the Emirati sultan with references to a young woman and intimate details.
As for Wexner, his name has already surfaced in the investigation. A 2019 report alleged that Epstein took $100 million from him in 2008 after the billionaire accused him of embezzling large sums. Wexner's lawyers have always maintained that the entrepreneur was unaware of any illegal activity involving young women, while admitting that he had given Epstein considerable autonomy in managing his wealth.
According to prosecutors, for years Epstein's fortune depended almost entirely on Wexner's funds, although the financier later received $158 million from Apollo Global Management co-founder Leon Black. The other four names mentioned are Nicola Caputo, Salvatore Nuara, Zurab Mikeladze and Leonic Leonov. No official details about them have been released so far.
After the names were released, speculation circulated on social media that the "Nicola Caputo" mentioned in the dossier could be the former Democratic Party MP. However, he has steadfastly denied any connection.
In a statement, it said it would continue to review the materials in this regard, adding that it regrets having had interactions with Epstein.
He adds that the foundation did not pursue any collaboration with Epstein and says that employees interacted with Epstein only "based on Epstein's claims that he could mobilize significant philanthropic resources for global health and development."
"The harm that Epstein caused to women and girls was horrific, and no one should have to experience what they experienced. The safety and well-being of women and girls is central to the foundation's mission to help every person live a healthy and productive life, to which we are fully committed. The foundation expresses its regret to any employee who interacted with Epstein in any way," the statement said.
Gates has admitted to meeting Epstein and is mentioned in the recent release of Epstein's files. However, he has not been charged with any wrongdoing and his appearance in Epstein's files is not evidence of a crime.
Bill Gates has previously said of his ties to Epstein and the allegations within the files: "The only thing these documents show is Epstein's frustration that he didn't have an ongoing relationship with Gates and the lengths he would go to to entrap and defame him."
Trump's name appears more often than Harry's in the Harry Potter books
Jared Moskowitz, a Florida Democrat, tells the committee that Donald Trump's name appears in the Epstein files more than God's name appears in the Bible or Harry Potter appears in the seven Harry Potter books.
He made this claim during a lengthy speech, explaining how the Epstein dossier has progressed in American politics in recent months.
But Attorney General Pam Bondi said there was "no evidence that Donald Trump committed a crime." During the House Judiciary Committee hearing, Bondi fired back at Representative Ted Lieu, who cited documents in Epstein's files that apparently came from information provided to an FBI tip line in the 2000s.
The debates arose after Lieu posted a short clip of Trump and Epstein at a party, and then asked: "Were there any underage girls at that party, or at any party that Trump attended with Jeffrey Epstein?" /Pamphlet/
