Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has held a phone call with his American counterpart, welcoming Trump's efforts to reach a peace agreement in Gaza.
But Erdogan said Israel must stop its attacks for the efforts to be successful, according to a statement from the Turkish presidency.
In a statement, the presidency said Erdogan told Trump in a phone call requested by the US side that Turkey would continue to support peace initiatives in the region and contribute to Trump's vision for global peace.
Earlier this week, Qatar confirmed that Turkey would join mediation talks in Gaza "as part of the American initiative" to stop the war.
