In a meeting held today in Istanbul, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez reaffirmed their common position on the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, describing the Israeli offensive as genocide and emphasizing the need for unconditional humanitarian aid.
Erdogan welcomed Spain's unwavering stance, describing it as an "honest and unwavering" stance on what he called "Israel's genocide in Gaza." Sánchez, on the other hand, informed about the proposal that Spain has submitted to the UN to demand an end to the blockade and full access for humanitarian aid to Gaza.
The meeting also focused on bilateral cooperation, particularly in the defense industry and trade, with the aim of increasing trade volume and deepening cooperation on joint military projects.
This meeting comes at a time when Turkey and Spain are trying to strengthen their position on the international stage as supporters of Palestinian rights and as strong voices against the Israeli offensive in Gaza.
