The medical charity Doctors Without Borders has revealed to the BBC that the Al Shifa hospital in Gaza is operating with only 20% of its staff following the attacks that took place near it.
According to doctor Ahmed El Mokhallalati, those who have chosen to stay in Al Shifa have accepted almost certain death.
The Israeli military has stated that the hospital is not under siege and that those inside will be allowed safe passage.
Dr Mohammed Obeid, a surgeon, is quoted as saying that many patients have recently undergone operations “and they cannot walk. As a result, they cannot be evacuated."
The charity called for "an immediate ceasefire and the protection of medical facilities, medical staff and patients".
