A Greek MEP has been involved in a scandal after he raped a journalist in a Strasbourg bar.
The MP of Syriza, Nikos Pappas, has attacked the journalist Nikos Giannopoulos.
According to journalist Nikos Giannopoulos, the incident occurred in a bar in Strasbourg, where the mission's journalists had gone, on Tuesday evening, at approximately 11:30 p.m. local time.
The MEP was also in the same bar with his colleagues.
The journalist started to leave with a colleague to head to the hotel where they were staying, when the SYRIZA MEP, without any prior warning, initially stopped him and then punched him twice.
Following the incident, Syriza President Sokrates Famellos, as stated in a related announcement, "expelled Nikos Pappas from the Eurogroup for his unacceptable behavior."
At the same time, he is immediately asking the ethics committee to remove him from Syriza-PS.
Socrates Famellos has already informed the head of the Eurogroup, MEP Kostas Arvanitis, of his decision.
According to what was reported, the journalist filed a lawsuit.
