"I thank my friend Donald," Netanyahu: We will bring all the hostages

In a brief speech on Saturday evening, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared that all Israeli hostages in Gaza, both those still alive and the bodies of those killed, will return home during the Jewish holiday of Sukkot (Tabernacles), which runs from October 6 to 13.

"At the beginning of the war, one of our officials said that we doubted whether we would be able to bring home even one hostage alive. But I never surrendered, not for others, not for other goals of the war," Netanyahu said, drawing applause from the cabinet and the families of the hostages gathered in the hall.

His speech, delivered just hours after US President Donald Trump's statement on the ceasefire plan and Israel's partial withdrawal from Gaza, signaled a rare alignment between the two leaders, who have often clashed over how to manage the conflict.

At the end of the speech, Netanyahu openly thanked the American president: "I want to thank my dear friend, Donald Trump. He has made it clear that he will not allow any more delays from Hamas. This is a great help for us and for the hostages who are waiting to be returned."

He also expressed gratitude to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), to the families who have lost their loved ones, as well as to the Israeli people, whom he described as "steadfast, strong, and united in the face of pain."
