After Trump's order, Israel asks army to stop operation in Gaza City;

According to Israeli media, negotiating teams have been ordered to resume talks today on implementing the first phase of the plan...

The Israeli military has been ordered by the political leadership to halt the offensive in Gaza City as it prepares to implement the first phase of US President Donald Trump's plan to end the war in Gaza and release the hostages, Israeli military radio reported on Saturday.

In an official statement, the Israeli military said it has been ordered to “increase readiness for the implementation of the first phase of Trump’s plan.” According to military radio, operations in the Gaza Strip will be reduced to the “necessary minimum,” while troops will remain for defensive purposes only.

The order came after Trump, late Friday evening, urged Israel to immediately halt its bombing of Gaza, after welcoming Hamas' partial acceptance of his plan to end the nearly two-year war.

However, despite the US president's request, the Israeli army continued its attacks on several areas of the Gaza Strip on Saturday. According to the Palestinian Wafa agency, at least six Palestinian civilians, including two children, were killed in Israeli shelling of a house in Gaza City and a tent housing displaced people in Al-Mawasi. Israeli drones also hit a group of people near a bakery in the city center, causing dozens of casualties, the Guardian reports.

The Israeli army's Arabic-language spokesman, Avichay Adraee, warned residents not to return to northern Gaza or Gaza City, where Israeli troops continue to remain.

Under the deal, Hamas agreed to release the remaining 48 hostages and hand over power in the Gaza Strip, while demanding that other parts of the plan be discussed at the negotiating table. Trump declared that, based on Hamas's response, "the group is ready for peace."

On the other hand, the office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed that Israel is committed to ending the war. After Trump's approval of the plan, Netanyahu faces strong international and domestic pressure to implement it. Even in Israel, the plan has been received positively: opposition leader Yair Lapid said that it is "a real opportunity to release the hostages and end the war" and that he would politically support Netanyahu in the final negotiations.

According to Israeli media, negotiating teams have been ordered to resume talks today on implementing the first phase of the plan. Although many details remain unclear, the diplomatic atmosphere is significantly more optimistic than in recent months.

A senior Hamas official told AFP that Egypt is preparing a conference of Palestinian groups to decide on Gaza's political future after the war - a step that aligns with Trump's plan.

The Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) group, which is holding Israeli hostages, also stated that it supports Hamas's stance, stressing that its response "represents the joint position of the Palestinian resistance forces."

This support is an important signal that Hamas has achieved internal unity among armed groups in Gaza to move forward with the American plan.

Donald Trump's 20-point plan provides for:

-immediate cessation of hostilities in Gaza;

-the release of 48 Israeli hostages within 72 hours in exchange for over 1,000 Palestinian prisoners;

-the gradual withdrawal of the Israeli army from Gaza;

-the disarmament of Hamas and the creation of a temporary transitional authority overseen by Trump himself;

-increasing humanitarian aid to the Palestinian population and beginning the reconstruction of Gaza, which faces hunger and massive destruction after the Israeli siege.

-If the plan is implemented, it would mark the end of the longest and most destructive conflict of the 21st century in the Middle East – but it remains to be seen whether Israel will truly stop.
