Matthew Griffiths, the sailor of the super-luxury yacht "Bayesian" that sank off the coast of Palermo in Italy, has told the moments of the tragedy.
In his testimony to the Italian authorities, he said that when the weather took a sudden turn and the sea became wild, everyone was asleep.
"I woke up the captain. He gave the order to wake up everyone else. Then I threw down the pillows and closed the windows. The ship capsized and we jumped into the sea. We managed to get back and tried to save those we could. We saved everyone we could, even the captain saved the little girl with her mother", said the sailor.
Investigating the incident is the captain of the super-luxury yacht, James Cutfield.
Of the 22 people on board the yacht, 15 survived. Among the victims were the owner of the yacht and the British technology magnate Mike Lynch and Jonathan Blumer, the president of the large international bank Morgan Stanley.
