Talks between Iran and the United States in Pakistan have hit a deadlock due to disagreements over the Strait of Hormuz, the Financial Times reported, citing sources familiar with the process.
According to the report, Iran insists on maintaining full control over this strategic sea passage and imposing transit fees for ships. Iranian negotiators have also rejected a proposal for joint management of the strait.
The Strait of Hormuz remains a key sticking point in the talks, hindering progress between the two sides.
Media sources report that a third round of talks, following previous meetings in Islamabad, is expected to take place within the next few hours or the next day.
