Pope Leo XIV has made his strongest intervention yet against the war between the United States, Israel and Iran, using direct language and criticism of the use of military force and the logic of escalation.
During an afternoon prayer in St. Peter's Basilica, the Pope condemned what he called the "illusion of omnipotence," emphasizing that this mentality is one of the main factors that fuels and keeps the conflict alive.
“ Enough with the idolatry of self and money! Enough with the demonstration of force! Enough with war !” he declared, in one of the strongest public messages given since the beginning of the escalation.
Although the Pope did not directly mention the United States or President Donald Trump, his message was interpreted as a criticism of rhetoric and actions that emphasize military superiority and justify interventions in the name of security or even religious references.
