Talks between the United States and Iran are expected to last until late at night and could continue on Sunday, according to a Pakistani source quoted by CNN.
The negotiations are taking place in Islamabad, with Pakistan acting as a mediator between the two sides. The parties have been in face-to-face negotiations for more than two hours and are likely to continue.
We recall that Iran's delegation to the Islamabad talks is being led by a trio of senior political and diplomatic figures, according to reports from Iranian media on the ground.
Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, a powerful figure within Iran's political system, is leading the team and overseeing the overall direction of the negotiations.
Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi brings extensive experience from past nuclear negotiations with Western powers. Ali Bagheri Kani, a key hard-line negotiator, has also played a central role in previous nuclear talks with the United States.
The Iranian delegation consists of about 70 members in total. In addition to the main negotiators, 26 members are part of technical committees in the economic, security and political fields, in order to provide necessary consultations, Iranian media reported.
On the other hand, Vice President JD Vance is leading the American delegation, along with special envoy Steve Witkoff and the president's son-in-law, Jared Kushner.
