The incident with 15 victims in Novi Sad, the Prosecutor's Office accuses

The High Public Prosecutor's Office of Novi Sad has filed an indictment against 13 people, including the former Minister of Transport of Serbia, Goran Vesic, and the former director of the Infrastructure of the Railways of Serbia, Jelena Tanaskovic, in connection with the tragic accident at the railway station in passed.

The concrete shelter at the newly renovated station in the northern Serbian city collapsed on November 1, leaving 15 dead and two injured.

The prosecutor's office in Novi Sad announced that 13 people are accused of five criminal offenses such as: serious crime against general security and causing general danger.

The indictment was filed after the completion of the investigation into the demolition of the shelter. The accident occurred after the train station had been renovated twice in recent years by a Chinese-led consortium of four companies.

Serbian Railways says the renovation did not include the concrete shelter, but some experts dispute this.

Serbs have regularly protested the accident in Novi Sad, demanding accountability.

The collapse of the shelter has become a political charge for President Aleksandar Vucic, as more than 50 academic faculties at four state universities, the offices of several university rectors and dozens of high schools have been blocked in solidarity with the protests.

Students have also participated in protests, blocking traffic for 15 minutes in various cities of Serbia./REL
