US services reject White House statements about "total destruction" of Iranian forces...
After weeks of intense bombing, Iran continues to maintain a significant portion of its military capabilities, contrary to what the White House and the Pentagon publicly declare.
This is reported by "CBS News", citing several American intelligence sources familiar with the situation.
According to these sources, about half of Iran's ballistic missile arsenal and their launch systems remained intact when the ceasefire came into effect on April 8.
At the same time, about 60% of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps' naval forces remain operational, including fast naval vessels used for asymmetric attacks.
As for the air force, it has been hit hard but not completely destroyed. According to another source cited by CBS, about two-thirds of the air force's capabilities remain operational, despite the extensive bombing campaign by the US and Israel.
The US media report also refers to a written statement submitted to Congress by the head of military intelligence, General James Adams, which states: " Iran maintains thousands of missiles and attack drones that can still threaten US forces and their allies in the region, despite the weakening of its capabilities ."
These assessments contrast with previous statements by President Donald Trump and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, who have described the American operation "Epic Fury" as a decisive blow to the Iranian military.
" We neutralized their fleet, their aircraft and their leaders ," Trump declared. Hegseth described the operation as "a historic and overwhelming victory," adding that Iran has been rendered incapable of conducting operations for years.
According to an anonymous US official, the operation has destroyed a large part of Iran's conventional navy. However, the Revolutionary Guard's naval component, built for asymmetric warfare and equipped with smaller assets, remains partially functional.
This is also the element that, according to sources, continues to affect the safety of oil navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.
The Pentagon, on the other hand, defends its assessment of the success of the operation. Spokesman Sean Parnell stated that more than 13,000 Iranian targets were hit during the campaign.
" In less than 40 days, the US military delivered a severe and debilitating blow to the Iranian regime ," he said, adding that 92% of the largest ships of the Iranian navy have been destroyed.
According to him, this constitutes " the largest neutralization of a naval force within three weeks since World War II ."
The various assessments show a clear gap between political statements and intelligence analyses on the real state of Iran's military capabilities.
