Iran claims it is not attacking Middle Eastern countries, but only US military bases and installations located on their territory, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said in an interview with NBC.
According to the Iranian top diplomat, Tehran's targets are exclusively the military infrastructure of the United States and, according to him, "unfortunately it is located on the territory of neighboring countries." Araghchi stressed that Iran's actions are a reaction to attacks that, according to him, have been carried out by the US and Israel.
He also announced that Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has apologized to Arab countries that may have been affected by Iranian attacks, stressing that they have faced consequences due to "American aggression and Iran's retaliation."
In the same interview, Araghchi stated that former US President Donald Trump is the one who should apologize for the "killings and destruction" that, according to him, have occurred in the region.
Regarding the possibility of a ceasefire, the Iranian minister said that before Tehran considers such a step, the United States and Israel must clarify the reasons for the attacks. He reiterated that, according to Iran, the conflict was imposed on the country and that the actions taken by Tehran are "legitimate acts of self-defense."
