Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister Majid Takht-Ravanchi stated that Iran is seeking guarantees from the US.
He stated that the only condition for sitting at the negotiating table is that: Donald Trump does not attack again. The US must rule out the idea of a new attack on Iran.
According to him, the Trump administration has made it clear to the Islamic Republic through intermediaries that it wants such a step. The deputy minister emphasizes that the US has not made its position clear; whether the attacks will continue during the talks.
The US and Iran were engaged in talks over the ayatollahs' regime's nuclear program when Israel struck Iranian nuclear plants and military infrastructure earlier this month, while Tehran responded with missiles.
Washington became directly involved in the conflict on June 21, after bombing three of Iran's nuclear facilities. Israel's military operation, which began on the morning of June 13, undermined the sixth round of indirect talks that were to be held in Muscat two days later.
The senior official also said his country would "insist" on being able to enrich uranium for peaceful purposes, while again denying accusations that Tehran was secretly trying to produce a nuclear weapon.
"The level of this involvement can be discussed, the capacity can be discussed. But to say that you should not have any enrichment, you should have zero enrichment or else we bomb you - this is the law of the jungle," the Iranian deputy foreign minister declared.
