The Israel Defense Forces have announced that they have identified a new wave of missiles launched from Iran.
Sirens are sounding in various parts of the country, mainly in the north and Haifa. The public has been instructed to seek shelter. “Defense systems are operating to intercept the threat,” the Israeli military said.
Earlier, the chief of staff of the Iranian Armed Forces called on residents of Haifa and Tel Aviv in Israel to evacuate ahead of what he called a "punitive operation" that will take place soon.
"The operations carried out so far have been a warning for prevention, and a punitive operation will be carried out soon," Abdolrahim Mousavi said in a video posted by Iranian state media.
"The martyrdom of commanders, compatriots and scientists will make the armed forces more determined to implement the punitive order," he added, apparently referring to the scientists and military leaders targeted when Israel launched its attack on Iran last week.
