The Israeli military announced that it carried out an airstrike overnight in Beirut, targeting several senior commanders of the Quds Force, part of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
According to a statement released Sunday by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), the operation targeted five commanders belonging to the Lebanese Corps and the Palestinian Corps of the Quds Force. According to the Israeli military, they were in a meeting at a hotel in the Lebanese capital at the time of the attack.
"The eliminated commanders carried out terrorist activities throughout Lebanon while hiding in a civilian hotel ," Israeli authorities announced.
The IDF stressed that the Lebanese Quds Force Corps is considered a key link in coordination between Iran and Hezbollah, playing an important role in their activities in the region.
Meanwhile, Lebanese authorities confirmed that the attack targeted a hotel room in Beirut in the early hours of the morning. According to the Lebanese National News Agency, the attack killed four people and injured at least 10 others.
The attack comes at a time of high tensions in the region, as Israel and Iran-backed groups continue military clashes on several fronts in the Middle East.
