A popular social media profile featuring a US soldier named Jessica Foster has turned out to be fake and likely created using artificial intelligence. A Washington Post investigation found that the character, who had amassed over a million Instagram followers in four months, has no real existence.
According to the report, the profile posted photos in various settings, including moments with US President Donald Trump and other world leaders such as Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Zelensky. In other posts, “Foster” appeared at activities related to important political and military developments, including a naval mission and a forum called the “Board of Peace.”
However, content analysis revealed a number of inconsistencies. The names were often incorrect, the uniforms and decorations did not match a real military structure, and repeated visual details suggested digital manipulation. The Washington Post notes that there is no official record of this person in civilian or military documents.
The profile combined curated images with political messages in support of Donald Trump and the American right-wing. This format, according to the analysis, aimed to attract attention and engage the public through a mix of visual aesthetics and ideological content.
Similar cases have been observed on other platforms such as TikTok and X, where similar profiles appear that portray fake figures in various professional roles, often with clear political messages. According to reports, many users perceive these accounts as authentic.
The phenomenon is not limited to the US. The BBC reported that similar profiles, claiming to be Iranian female soldiers, have recently appeared on social media, despite the fact that military service for women in Iran is not permitted.
After the investigation was published, Jessica Foster's account was removed from Instagram. Earlier, the OnlyFans platform had identified irregularities, as the profile had not completed the identity verification process.
The case illustrates the growing use of artificial intelligence in creating fake content with the aim of influencing public opinion and disseminating political messages in a disguised manner.
