The perpetrator of the murder of American official Melissa Hortman and her husband Mark had left a message for his friend before committing the heinous act.
Vance Boelter had told David Carlson, with whom he shared a house, and another friend that he might die soon. Carlson told the media that he saw the attacker on Friday and received a text message from him around 6 a.m. Saturday.
"I just want to let you know that I love you both and I wish it hadn't happened this way. I don't want to say anything more and implicate you in any way because you don't know anything about this, but I love you and I'm sorry for all the problems this has caused ," the message said.
His friend Carlson said he feels betrayed by Boelter and expressed his condolences to the victims.
Boetler, after killing the Democratic lawmaker and her husband in Minnesota, then went to the home of another Democratic Senator named John Hoffman, leaving him and his wife injured. Hoffman underwent surgery and their condition remains critical.
According to police, the perpetrator, 57-year-old Vance Boelter, was seen on Saturday wearing a light-colored cowboy hat, a long-sleeved shirt with a dark collar and a dark-colored bag.
