Mary Trump, psychologist, writer and niece of US President Donald Trump, has called on European countries to "counterattack" against the White House's threats to impose tariffs as part of Trump's efforts to acquire Greenland.
Her reaction came after it was reported that some European leaders are leaning towards negotiations rather than retaliation in the face of the US president's warnings. Citing a New York Times headline, Mary Trump expressed disappointment with the conciliatory approach towards her uncle.
"I'm so tired of the failed strategy of negotiations and appeasement. This only strengthens it. Counterattack!" she wrote in a post on the social network X.
Her statement comes at a time of rising tensions between the US and Europe, as Donald Trump has threatened tariffs on countries that oppose his plans for Greenland.
Mary Trump's reaction adds to critical voices calling for a tougher European stance towards the American president's policies.
