North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has said that the conflict between the United States and Iran reinforces his country's stance on developing nuclear weapons.
In a speech before the Supreme People's Assembly, Kim accused Washington of "state-sponsored acts of terrorism and aggression," describing US policy as threatening countries that do not possess nuclear weapons.
"The current situation clearly shows that North Korea was right to reject the US's sweet-talking pressure to give up its nuclear arsenal. Now, our country's nuclear status is irreversible," Kim said.
He argued that recent developments show that countries without nuclear weapons remain exposed to military intervention, presenting the nuclear arsenal as a security guarantee.
Meanwhile, former US President Donald Trump earlier declared that Iran posed an immediate threat to the US, despite previously claiming that Iran's nuclear capabilities had been destroyed.
Kim Jong Un's statements come at a time when, according to media reports, there are signals of a possible resumption of dialogue between Washington and Pyongyang, after the interruption of negotiations in 2019.
