House Speaker Mike Johnson declared that the United States is "ending" the military operation against Iran, adding that it will be concluded "very quickly and right on schedule."
"I think we're wrapping up Operation Epic Fury. That's what I think. And I think it's going to wrap up very quickly and it's going to be right on schedule," Johnson told US media in Washington.
His comments come just a day after President Donald Trump said his administration is holding talks with “the right people” in Iran who want to “make a deal.” Trump noted that Tehran has expressed a strong desire for a solution and has even sent a “big gift” of significant value, related to oil and gas.
However, Iran has rejected a 15-point peace plan proposed by the US, calling it "excessive" and disconnected from the realities on the battlefield. According to Iranian state media, Tehran has presented five of its own conditions to end the conflict.
Operation Epic Fury, a joint US-Israeli campaign, has primarily targeted Iranian military targets such as ballistic missiles, nuclear infrastructure and proxy networks.
Johnson has described the operation as "limited in scope and mission," emphasizing that the primary objective is not regime change, but neutralizing the imminent threat from Iran.
