The consequences of the war

Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps is rejecting US claims that its missile program has been destroyed, saying it is deploying missiles in greater numbers and with nuclear warheads weighing more than 1 ton.

US President Donald Trump threatened to hit Iran "20 times harder" if it stops oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz, hours after saying the war could end "very soon".

Disagreement between the US and Israel over war with Iran

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has been waiting for decades for an American president to go to war with Iran, so it is unlikely that he will publicly show disagreement with Donald Trump.

However, according to reports, intense lobbying is taking place behind closed doors. Since the beginning of the conflict, there have been differences between the objectives of the US and Israel in this war.

Now those differences seem to be coming to light. Israeli media have described Trump's statements as "contradictory," as his advisers have told him that the war is not going as initially expected. They had expected Iran to weaken quickly, but that has not happened.

According to Israeli media, some advisers have suggested that Trump start talking about a victory over Iran as a way to find a way out of the conflict. That approach is not likely to go down well in Israel, where officials say they want a stronger blow.

These differences may have been the reason why the planned visit by Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff did not take place today. No public explanation was given for its cancellation.

Israeli military reiterates threats against Lebanon

The Israeli military has repeated its threat of forced displacement of residents in southern Lebanon. In a post on the social media platform X, it warned residents south of the Litani River, saying that “airstrikes are ongoing” and the army is “operating with great force in the area.”

"We reiterate our urgent call to immediately leave your homes and head north of the Litani River," the statement said, adding that "any movement southward could endanger your lives."

The Israeli military said it had struck about 30 targets over the past week belonging to Al-Qard al-Hasan, a financial group linked to Hezbollah. Israel says it has previously struck locations linked to the group, which it accuses of financing Hezbollah's activities, including purchasing weapons and paying its fighters. The group is also subject to sanctions by the United States.

Lebanon's National News Agency (NNA) reported that Israeli warplanes carried out additional strikes overnight in several areas of the country, including Srifa, Rihane Chaqra and the Ain el-Tineh heights in the western Bekaan.

There are also reports of heavy fighting in the suburb of Khiam in southern Lebanon, where residents have heard shelling, flares and gunfire.

Earlier, it was reported that four people were killed by Israeli strikes in two areas of the Bint Jbeil district, according to NNA.

Lebanon's Health Ministry said at least 486 people have been killed and 1,313 injured in the latest wave of Israeli attacks on the country.

Attacks on energy infrastructure continue in Gulf countries

In the United Arab Emirates, air defense systems are battling a number of missiles and drones coming from Iran. In Kuwait, six drones have been intercepted, while in Bahrain a woman was killed after a missile hit a residential building.

Over the past 24 hours, it has been observed that these attacks are particularly targeting energy infrastructure. In Bahrain, the oil fields of the company Bapco were hit by drones. The company was forced to declare force majeure, as it cannot fulfill its contractual obligations. In Saudi Arabia, the oil field in Shaybah has also been the subject of an attack. These developments are raising serious concerns about the security of energy supplies from the Gulf region.

US Embassy in Beirut urges citizens to shelter in place

The US Embassy in Beirut has told American citizens in Lebanon that they "should be prepared to remain sheltered in place" if they choose not to take advantage of available departure options.

In a security alert, the embassy advised American citizens to find a "safe place inside their residence or in another secure building" and secure supplies of food, water, medicine and other essential items.

Lebanon has said more than half a million people have been displaced by fighting between Israel and Hezbollah over the past week, while Israeli attacks have killed at least 486 people.
