The Middle East has once again been aflame with innocent blood, as Israel and the United States have intensified airstrikes in Gaza and Yemen, causing dozens of civilian casualties and further deepening the humanitarian crisis in the region.
In Gaza, the Israeli war machine has killed at least 71 Palestinians in just 24 hours, according to the Gaza Health Ministry. The most barbaric attack was on a cafe in the Nuseirat refugee camp, where six people were brutally massacred. This barbaric attack once again demonstrates the lack of scruples of the Israeli regime, which does not hesitate to directly target civilians.
Palestinian representatives at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) accused Israel of using humanitarian aid as a "weapon of war." This is directly related to the Israeli blockade, which has caused mass starvation and is turning Gaza into a "mass grave" for its inhabitants.
Meanwhile, the United States, in an escalation of aggression that seems like revenge, has intensified air strikes on Yemen. The capital Sana'a and surrounding areas have been hit hard. In the Bani al-Harith district, at least eight civilians, including women and children, have been killed in the latest attacks. The US Central Command (CENTCOM) openly admitted that since mid-March it has carried out over 800 airstrikes, killing hundreds of militants, but also destroying the lives of civilians.
This escalation of fighting has brought new waves of population displacement to Yemen and has worsened the dire humanitarian situation in this country, which has long been on the brink of disaster.
But as the Middle East burns under bombardment and civilian populations are massacred, the international community remains silent or responds with empty rhetoric. War crimes are being committed in full view of the world, once again demonstrating the hypocrisy of those who preach peace but foment conflict.
Israel and the United States, in the name of security and the fight against terrorism, are producing innocent victims every day, reinforcing the cycle of violence that seems to have no end.
