The Israeli massacre in Gaza continues, 45 thousand killed and 107 thousand

The war in Gaza is still going on. The death toll from Israeli airstrikes in Gaza, according to figures from the Ministry of Health there, reaches 45,059.

At least 45,059 Palestinians have been killed and 107,041 wounded in Israeli airstrikes in Gaza since October 7, 2023. Of these, 31 Palestinians were killed and 79 wounded in the last 24 hours.

While Israel clearly shows that it has no intention of withdrawing. Israel's defense minister, Israel Katz, has said his country's forces will maintain "security control" over the devastated Gaza Strip, even after the war ends.

"Once we defeat the military and governmental power of Hamas in Gaza, Israel will have security control over Gaza with full freedom of action, just as it did in Judea and Samaria (an Israeli term for the occupied West Bank). We will not allow any terrorist organization against Israeli communities and Israeli citizens from Gaza. We will not allow a return to reality before October 7 ," he wrote.

The issue of Gaza's post-war governance remains unresolved, a year after the October 7 attack led by Hamas, in which around 1,200 people were killed and 250 were taken hostage. Katz's predecessor, Yoav Gallant, who was ousted in November, opposed any prolonged Israeli control of Gaza, from which Israel withdrew troops and settlers in 2005 after decades of direct rule.

In May, then as defense minister, Gallant said he "would not agree to the establishment of an Israeli military administration in Gaza".

"Israel should not have civilian control over the Gaza Strip ," Gallant said at the time, urging the country's prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, to draw up a post-war plan for the territory.
