US President Donald Trump appears to have changed his mind about Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado after their meeting yesterday.
Trump spoke positively about his meeting with Machado on Thursday, where she presented him with her Nobel Peace Prize medal, a gesture that appeared to have left an impression on him.
"Yesterday I had a great meeting with a person who I have great respect for, and she has respect, obviously, for me and our country, and she gave me her Nobel Prize ," Trump said.
Asked by the cheerleaders why he would want someone else's award, Trump said she offered it to him herself and that the award seemed very nice. He added that Machado was a very nice woman with whom he would speak again.
" Well, she offered it to me. I thought it was very nice. She said, you know, 'You've finished eight wars and there's no one in history who deserves this award more than you do.' And I thought it was a very nice gesture and, by the way, I think she's a very nice woman and we'll talk again," Trump concluded.
